The Department of Geology, Jagannath Barooah University, organized an Introductory Session for the Postgraduate Programme in Geology to welcome the new batch (First) of PG students.

The meeting was presided over by Dr. Raktim Ranjan Saikia, HoD, and hosted by Dr. Raghupratim Rakshit. Distinguished guests grace the event were Dr. Utpal Jyoti Mahanta, Registrar, J.B. University, Dr. Deepa Bora, Former Faculty, Department of Geology, and Mr. Abhilash Baroah, Alumnus and Founder, Eunoia Process Consultants.

During the session, Mr. Sorat Konwar highlighted the department’s journey since its inception. Dr. Chaitra Dhar Taye displayed the goodwill messages of Dr. Nurul Amin, Former HoD & Vice Principal, Jagannath Barooah College and a video message of Dr. Basobh Nandan Mahanta, Director, GSI, Kolkata, along with key departmental activities.

Dr. Utpal Jyoti Mahanta motivated students with his welcome note, while Dr. Deepa Bora shared nostalgic memories and conveyed best wishes. Mr. Abhilash Baroah encouraged students to explore opportunities in Geology and emphasized the importance of soft skills. Before concluding the meeting Dr. Taye delivered the Vote of Thanks.

The session concluded with an inspiring message for students to carry forward the department’s legacy with dedication and enthusiasm.
