The department of Geology of Jagannath Barooah College aims to offer quality education in the field of Earth Science. The prime goal of the department is to provide students with hands-on training in both classical and modern approaches including geological field-work, microscopy techniques, remote sensing and computational techniques to better understand the subject as well as address environmental and socio-economic issues.

Employment opportunities for Geologists in the private sector have set up the challenge of making our students fit for private organizations. The following steps are planned for fulfilling this objective.

• Design and implement programs for imparting knowledge and skills specifically required for different organizations.
• Personality development in line with requirements of private organizations.
• Plan & implement exposure programs to acquaint the students with various private sector employing agencies.
• Interact with prestigious organizations to obtain a detailed outline of knowledge, skill & attitude specifically required by them.
• Design and implement special coaching for entrance examinations of prestigious institutions like ISM, IITs etc.
