A special interactive programme was held on the 25th May, 2026 jointly organized by the Department of English and Mirai Japanese Language Learning Centre, Jagannath Barooah University. The objective of the event was to create awareness as well as encourage young students to explore possibilities of career opportunities abroad, particularly Japan. Miss Plawita Bhagawati, the host for this event welcomed all participants to the programme which was themed as "Threshold to CM Flight”. Following this, Dr. Nandini Bora Choudhury, HoD, Dept. of English illuminated the audience on the desired plan, commitments and the actual fulfillment of having a Japanese Language Learning Centre at the university. She also emphasized on how creation of such opportunities would greatly help interested learners in becoming successful and good resources for the society. Hon'ble VC, Dr. Jyoti Prasad Saikia gave special credit to the department for the willingness and promptness in striving to pave new directions for the sake of the young students. In his motivational speech, he also highlighted the need to move beyond the horizon and encouraged students to utilise the rare opportunities which are made available to them. Dr. Utpal Jyoti Mahanta, Registrar of Jagannath Barooah University also spoke on the occasion and motivated the students to aim higher for adding values to their academic qualifications. He stressed on why students should engage themselves more in acquiring value-added courses for their own career building and brighter prospects for the future. Soon after this,Ms. Sahana Debnath helped the audience with the details of “The Threshold to CM-FLIGHT”, a placement-oriented programme designed to prepare candidates for successful careers in Japan through a presentation. She informed the participants on how the programme offers a comprehensive 9-month training course consisting of JFT A2 Japanese language training along with SSW skill preparation. Upon successful completion of the course, candidates become eligible for placement opportunities in Japan through MIRAI Japanese Learning Centre and its placement partners.
The speaker provided all necessary information like eligibility criteria; for the programme desired candidates between 18 to 30 years of age with a minimum educational qualification of 10+2 or above along with basic knowledge of English. The session also focused on the diverse employment sectors available in Japan, including caregiving, construction, agriculture, hospitality, and other service industries.Further, she explained how successful candidates would be eligible to apply under the SSW Visa category for employment in Japan.
The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, faculty members, invited guests and participants from different colleges and universities across the Jorhat district. Interactive discussions, motivational guidance and Japanese conversation activities conducted by the students and faculty members added vibrancy to the session and encouraged active audience participation.
The organisers expressed heartfelt gratitude to all dignitaries, faculty members, media representatives, invited guests and students for their valuable presence, support and cooperation in making the programme a grand success. The event concluded with a formal vote of thanks extended to everyone associated with the successful execution of the session.
