The Department of Sanskrit, in collaboration with Sanskrit Bharati, Jorhat Branch, successfully organized a seven-day workshop on, "संस्कृत-भाषाबोधन-वर्गः," from July 14th to July 20th, 2025. The workshop's primary goal was to impart foundational Sanskrit language skills, based on the curriculum designed by Central Sanskrit University, New Delhi.
Mr. Tapan Rajbongshi, a dedicated Karyakarta from Sanskrit Bharati, served as the program's trainer, guiding over 40 students from various institutions across the Jorhat district. The workshop sessions were held daily from 10 AM to 2 PM in Conference Hall-1, providing an immersive learning environment.
Dr. Champak Deka, Head of the Department of Sanskrit, presided over the valedictory session of the workshop. Dr. Utpal Jyoti Mahanta, the Principal, delivered a warm welcome address. Participants showcased their newly acquired skills through a vibrant program that included Sanskrit recitations, singing, and conversations. Many of them also shared their personal experiences of learning Sanskrit, highlighting the workshop's impact.
The session was graced by the presence of several distinguished guests, including Dr. Kalyani Goswami, former HoD of Sanskrit; Mr. Debendra Nath Devagoswami; Mrs. Bornali Baruah, former Pradhan Acharya of Sankaradeva Vidya Niketan, Garmur; and Mr. Govinda Tanti, among others. Mr. Jayanta Das Shastri, District Coordinator of Sanskrit Bharati, skillfully hosted the meeting.
A special moment during the valedictory session was the felicitation of Ms. Jonali Nisha Borgohain, a student from Sankaradeva Vidya Niketan, Garmur, Jorhat. She was honored for securing the highest marks in Sanskrit in the HS Examination, 2025, a testament to academic excellence in the language. The event concluded with a formal vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Swapna Borah, Assistant Professor of Sanskrit, JBC, bringing a successful end to a truly enriching workshop.
