Special Talk on “Entrepreneurship Opportunities through Agriculture”
The Department of Economics, Jagannath Barooah University, Jorhat, organized a Special Talk Program on “Entrepreneurship Opportunities through Agriculture” on 7 March 2026 at the New Conference Hall.
The program was anchored by Dr. Ranjit Khanikor, with an introductory address by Dr. Asraffuzamman Choudhury. The inaugural speech was delivered by Dr. Surajit Sharma, Academic Registrar (In-charge), who emphasized the importance of entrepreneurship in the context of limited government job opportunities.
The keynote speaker, Dr. Nivedita Deka, Professor & Head, Department of Agricultural Economics, Assam Agricultural University, highlighted diverse opportunities in sectors such as agriculture, fishery, sericulture, horticulture, organic farming, and input supply. She also discussed challenges and the need for marketing and institutional support.
Around 100 students from different departments benefited from the program. Faculty members of the Department of Economics were also present.
The program concluded with a vote of thanks by Mr. Probenson Terang, Department of Economics, Jorhat.
