The Department of Geology marked a significant milestone on 28th February, 2026, with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Jagannath Barooah University and Geological Survey of India.

The MoU was formally signed by Shri Ashish Kumar Nath, Deputy Director General, GSI, and Dr. Utpal Jyoti Mahanta, Registrar, JBU, in the gracious presence of Prof. Jyoti Prasad Saikia, Vice Chancellor, Jagannath Barooah University. The ceremony was attended by GSI officials Shri Subhashish Roychoudhary and Shri Mousam Kashyap, along with all the faculty members of the Department of Geology.

This collaboration marks a significant step towards strengthening academic and research partnerships, promoting field-based learning, expanding research opportunities, and enhancing knowledge exchange in the geosciences.
