As part of the Central Government’s Seva Parv initiative and the weeklong Seva Saptah programme of the Government of Assam, a Tree Plantation and Distribution Programme was organized at Jagannath Barooah University, Jorhat, on 19th September 2025.

Tree plantation activities were carried out at different locations of the university, including the Main Campus, Boys’ Hostel Campus, and Girls’ Hostel Campus. The programme reflected the university’s commitment to environmental sustainability and active participation in national initiatives.

The event was graced by the presence of Dr. Utpal Jyoti Mahanta (Registrar), Dr. Surajit Sharma (Dean of Academic Affairs), Mr. Subhasish Sharma (Dean of Students’ Affairs), and Mr. Porag Sarmah (Dean of Commerce). Faculty members, office staff, and a large number of students also took part enthusiastically in the plantation drive.

In addition to the plantation, saplings were distributed among students and others to encourage the continuation of this green initiative beyond the university campus.
