Celebration of Viksit Bharat Seva Parv 2025: Talk Programme by IPS Officer 

 

The Department of Geography, Jagannath Barooah University, Jorhat, in collaboration with the Centre for Youth Development (NCC), organized a Motivational Talk Programme on 19th September 2025 at 2:00 PM in Conference Hall 1. The programme was graced by two eminent speakers — Mr. Satyajit Hazarika, IPS, Inspector General of Police (IGP), North Eastern Range and Eastern Range, Assam, and Mr. Rajesh Bordoloi, noted educationist and recipient of the State Award for Kriti Shikshak 2025.

The session began with Mrs. Klirdap Lekthepi, Assistant Professor, who warmly welcomed the guests, faculty members, and students. The distinguished guests were felicitated by the students of the Department of Geography.

The formal inauguration was carried out by Dr. Surajit Sharma, Dean of Academic Affairs, who highlighted the importance of motivation and leadership in academic as well as personal growth. The Welcome Address was delivered by Dr. Minakshi Phookan Hazarika, Dean of Social Sciences and Humanities, who underlined the relevance of such programmes in shaping young minds.

The academic session commenced with the introduction of Mr. Rajesh Bordoloi by Mr. Paras Kumar Rajak, Research Scholar, followed by his insightful speech on education and values. Subsequently, Ms. Shyamolee Sarma, Assistant Professor, introduced the main speaker of the event, Mr. Satyajit Hazarika, IPS, highlighting his distinguished career in the Assam Police and his exemplary commitment to public service.

In his powerful and inspiring address, Mr. Satyajit Hazarika, IGP, shared valuable lessons from his personal and professional journey. He spoke on the significance of perseverance, discipline, and dedication in achieving success. He also shed light on the achievements of the Assam Police in combating narcotics and drug trafficking, which greatly impressed and motivated the students. His candid reflections on struggles, achievements, and public welfare efforts left a lasting impression on the audience.

Mr. Gaurab Borthakur, Assistant Professor, delivered a short but impactful appreciation speech, acknowledging the inspirational messages shared by the speakers.

The programme concluded with a Vote of Thanks proposed by Ms. Namrata Borah, Assistant Professor, who expressed gratitude to the chief guests, the dignitaries, faculty members, students, and everyone who contributed to the success of the event.
