Jagannath Barooah University, Jorhat, celebrated the 79th Independence Day on 15th August 2025 with patriotic fervour and in a colourful manner. The National flag was hoisted at 7.30 A.M. by the honourable Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Jyoti Prasad Saikia.
In his brief but inspiring address, Prof. Saikia urged everyone to uphold the spirit of unity, dedication, and collective effort to transform Jagannath Barooah University into a world-class institution of higher learning.
The occasion was graced by several eminent dignitaries, including Dr. Utpal Jyoti Mahanta (Registrar), Dr. Surajit Sharma (Academic Dean), and Mr. Subhasish Sarmah (Dean of Students’ Affairs). The gathering also witnessed the active participation of faculty members, the librarian, non-teaching staff, students, and a contingent of uniformed NCC cadets, whose presence added grandeur to the celebration. A smartly executed pilot drill by the NCC cadets escorted the Vice-Chancellor to the ceremonial stage, drawing admiration from all present.
Following the flag hoisting, an award ceremony was held to felicitate the Best NCC Cadets who brought glory and recognition to the university through their dedication and achievements.
The entire program was coordinated and anchored by Captain Sandeep Sankar Regan, ANO, ensuring its smooth and memorable execution.
The event concluded with a spirit of patriotism and renewed determination to contribute towards the growth and excellence of the university.
