Dr. Jibon Saikia holds advanced degrees in Physics from Dibrugarh University, including a M.Sc. in Laser and Nonlinear Optics (1996), M.Phil. in Nonlinear Optics (1997), and Ph.D. in Ring Laser Cavity Design (2003). This progressive specialization in optical physics has established a strong foundation for interdisciplinary research and teaching.

Teaching Experience

With 20 years of academic experience, Dr. Saikia has served in faculty positions at Jagannath Barooah College(presently upgraded to University), including 14 years as Assistant Professor and 6 years as Associate Professor. Throughout this tenure, he have taught core courses in theoretical and applied physics, including:Quantum Mechanics, Quantum Optics, Laser Physics, Thermal Physics, Condense Matter Physics and Waves and Optics.

Research Interests

Dr. Jibon Saikia's research focus spans multiple domains within optical physics and materials science:

  • Quantum Optics
  • Nanomaterials and nanocomposites synthesis
  • Green synthesis methodologies for sustainable nanotechnology applications
  • Bio-Inspired Nanoparticles, Material Properties

Project Grant: Two projects of amount 4.5 lac and 1.9 lac have been completed during the period of service. The Projects have been granted from UGC and ASTEC.

Ph D Supervisor: Presently supervising six students for Ph D. Four of them are registered.  One of them has been submitted his abstract of thesis .
